FEBRUARY SPOTLIGHT: Rebecca Rivera

This month we have chosen Rebecca Rivera as our February Spotlight Athlete! Rebecca has been a CrossFit Rolesville member for several years now and she constantly shows her dedication. She attends class almost every day of the week and usually stays after to work on other skills. Rebecca always comes to community events and welcomes new members. She is incredibly strong and continues to improve all over as an athlete. We are incredibly proud to have her apart of our CFR community!

Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Rolesville?

This is a tough one. Not only has my body transformed and my confidence level has increased but now i have the determination to show up and complete workouts that i once use to skip. :]  

How did you find CFR? Why do you train?

Before moving to North Carolina I did some research on crossfit boxes convenient to where I was going to live. Luckily CFR is walking distance to my house. I train because I love it, every bit of it.  I was a gymnast when I was 5 until I went to college. Ive always felt like something was missing until I found Crossfit. It has changed my life in so many ways. Crossfit had given me the ability to push myself past my comfort zone and do things that I’m terrified of doing. (Like the 24” box jumps) 

What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?

There are so many moments.  Watching everyone compete in the open and the in house competitions is always a blast. Not to mention witnessing members hitting huge PRs is always exciting! But nothing compares to the friendships I’ve made that come with being a part of CFR. 

What is your daily motivation to workout?

I always tell myself that if I want to get better I have to show up and do the work. When I have a bad day, going to CFR always makes it better, it’s like therapy for my soul.

Favorite and least favorite movements?

My favorite movement is any Olympic lift especially clean and jerks! I don’t like running more than 200m at a time or box jumps at 24” or deadlift day. 

What’s one thing you would tell a new CrossFitter?

You’re first day can be intimidating. Everything can be scaled. Get comfortable with discomfort. Snatching is harder than it looks, give it time. Always warm up. Take time to recover and get ready to spend unnecessary money on shoes, shoes and more shoes. 

One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?

Helena- My Chemical Romance.
