HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH CROSSFIT?
My younger brother, Thomas, was the one who introduced me to CrossFit. At first glance, this new workout program looked miserable and all about weightlifting. I could have cared less about lifting weights and my perception of what working out should be was “cardio, cardio, cardio”. I was a Zumba Instructor before CrossFit! Well he persisted for about a year and finally I caved. Just like that I was hooked. Ever since then I have been addicted to this rigorous but remarkable program and lifestyle called CrossFit.
WHY DO YOU LOVE CROSSFIT?
First off, the community is amazing. It’s so inspiring to see so many awesome and like-minded people at CrossFit boxes, events, and where ever else all going through the same vicious workout and building that sense of comradery. It truly is something you just have to experience to understand! Second, I love how my perception of fitness changed through CrossFit. It stopped being so much about the way I looked and became more of what I’m capable of doing. CrossFit has made me strong both physically and mentally. I look forward to helping others change their perception as well!
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PHYSICAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?
A couple of years ago, I did a Stand-Up Paddle Board endurance challenge at Lake Gaston, NC. I paddle boarded for 32 miles, from the Kerr Lake Damm to the Lake Gaston Damm. It took me nearly eleven and a half hours but it was by far one of my proudest moments!
