For the month of November, we decided to choose the spotlight athlete based on the most improved finishes from the 2019 to the 2020 Open. Not only was he most improved but he’s also just one awesome guy, Adam McCulley! Adam has been a dedicated athlete of the 5:30am class and is always fun to have around. He is incredibly strong and has made a ton of progress in all areas of his fitness. Adam stays consistent, puts in the work every class, and it has definitely showed! He also incredibly involved in our CrossFit Rolesville community which we always appreciate! We are extremely proud to call him a CFR athlete and a friend!

Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Rolesville?
This is it! Probably getting my first pullup. It was something that felt like it might just not happen…ever. It was a good lesson in patience and understanding that all the work and reps eventually pay off.
How did you find CFR? Why do you train?
I literally just drove past it when we moved to the area. I was looking to try something new since I was always getting burnt out going to the gym. I had a few friends that were into CrossFit so now that there was a gym 5 minutes away I decided to give it a shot.
Im just trying to get in shape and get a good sweat in each day. It’s great stress relief and a good way to get going in the mornings.
What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?
This is a tough question. There has been a lot of great memories made but nothing quite like hitting a PR on back squats this summer. That felt good.
What is your daily motivation to workout?
Seeing the progress over time and continuing to improve is great motivation, but just seeing everyone in the gym is great too. The social aspect of CFR is a big reason to keep coming back day after day.

What’s one thing you would tell a new CrossFitter?
There is so much, but I think the biggest thing is to embrace the community. The CFR community is amazing and you quickly realize it’s not all about fitness.
One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?
Hypnotize – The Notorious B.I.G.
A WOD, cutting grass, chopping onions… this song basically makes everything better.
Tell us something about yourself that we don’t already know.
I collect records. I have a pretty good vinyl collection going and I’m always adding to it.
