For the March spotlight athlete, we couldn’t just choose one…so we chose two, Graham and Emily Sapp! These two have been pillars in our CrossFit Rolesville community and both have been apart of the CFR family since the beginning. Graham is not only an avid athlete, he also is an awesome coach. He truly loves the sport of CrossFit and is passionate about helping others achieve their fitness goals. Emily is Graham’s better half and biggest supporter. She’s always friendly to newcomers and keeps it fun in class! Both of them attend community events and continue help make CFR what it is today. We are truly grateful to have this awesome couple as friends and apart of our CrossFit Rolesville family.

EMILY: Accounts Service Coordinator at Affordable Care

GRAHAM: Bartender at Gonza Tacos Y Tequila, Physical Therapy Assistant Student at Nash CC, CFR Coach

Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Rolesville?

EMILY: Placing first in the women’s scaled division for the March Madness Competition with my awesome partner, Caroline Miles!

GRAHAM: Probably this! I’m just happy that I have found an exercise regime that has kept me engaged and motivated for the last 4 years. Getting my CF-L1 was a big accomlishment for me.

How did you find CFR? Why do you train?

EMILY: Graham forced me to go when he would come home on the weekends during his military days, but I love it now! I joke with Graham, saying I do Crossfit so I can lift our 75lb injured dog into my vehicle. But I train to mentally and physically feel better overall. I sit down all day for work so it’s my one chance during the day to move around and be physically active.

GRAHAM: Thomas and I went to high school together, so when I heard he opened a gym I stopped by to congratulate him and ended up doing my first Crossfit workout. I train to keep up with the Unicorn (Jason Broughton) and because I love fitness! I think I’m addicted…

What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?

EMILY: My favorite moment so far was when I told myself I was going to do this Cardio Quarter and finish it! And I am on the way there. I’ve never been one to do anything extra so it makes me happy that I am sticking to it and putting in the extra effort.

GRAHAM: I love competition environments so anytime we are in the Open or hosting a competition I am pumped up. Pieing Coach Megan was cool too.

What is your daily motivation to workout?

EMILY: See Koa 🥰 and become stronger than I was yesterday!

GRAHAM: It perpetuates good decision making in other areas of my life. Also, my competitiveness keeps me coming back for more.

Favorite and least favorite movements?

EMILY: Favorite- probably power cleans of some sort or any lift with STOH; Least- BBJO

GRAHAM: Running, strict pressing, and box jumps are neat.

Wallballs, rowing, and kettlebell swings are not.

What’s one thing you would tell to a new CrossFitter?

EMILY: Just give it a chance and you’ll love it!

GRAHAM: Listen to your coaches and master the basics.

One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?

EMILY: Ah man, I love music too much to just name one! It can be anything 2000s hip hop or something with a continuous good beat.

GRAHAM: That emo screamo gets me going.

Tell us something about yourself that we don’t already know.

EMILY: I was the Secretary for my sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, at ECU. I ran for President but lost, got really nervous making a speech in front of all the girls.

GRAHAM: I have owned 17 vehicles, 2 motorcycles, 1 moped and 1 boat.

I am 1 of 4 kids that all have red hair.  I didn’t have my first egg roll until I was 25 years old. What was I thinking?!
