This month we’d like to recognize Hannah Quarles as our May spotlight athlete! Hannah has been a long time standing member at CrossFit Rolesville and we absolutely love having her a part of our community. Hannah is very consistent and extremely strong! There’s no hiding her strength but she’s also very forthright at listening to her body and knowing when to refrain from something that may cause an injury. Hannah is open about body image within the CrossFit world, and in our opinion, she is an outstanding role model for all women. She takes advice and cues from coaches, attends community events, and always works hard. We couldn’t be prouder to have her as a friend and athlete in the CFR community!

Age: 28

Occupation: Analyst for the Department of Health and Human Services

Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Rolesville?

My recent 250 back squat PR

How did you find CFR? Why do you train?

I have always been in the gym and enjoyed being active, but was getting bored with my weekly workouts and wanted to push myself a little harder. I googled “Crossfit near me” and found CFR and immediately set up a one on one. I’ve been here ever since!

What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?

It’s so hard for me to pick just one! I was relatively new the the area when I joined CFR and can legitimately say that I found my truest and closest friends here. Being able to spend time with them and reach our goals together has provide me with more “favorite moments” than I can count.

What is your daily motivation to workout?

Other than wanting to benefit my physical health and work on self discipline, working out has done wonders for my mental health as well. I have struggled with pretty severe anxiety since I was a child, and establishing a consistent exercise routine really helped me overcome a lot of that.

Favorite and least favorite movements?

Favorite would be a tie between Cleans and Push Jerks. Least favorite is (and forever will be) snatches.

What’s one thing you would tell a new CrossFitter?

Make sure you’re focusing on YOU and the new things your body is accomplishing, and try not to compare yourself to others in the gym.

One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?

Literally any song on a 2000’s Hip Hop playlist

Tell us something about yourself that we don’t already know.

I spent part of my childhood growing up in a Bucharest, Romania.
