CrossFit Rolesville is proud to announce that for the month of April we have chosen Joanne DeRosa as our spotlight athlete! Joanne is a feisty, strong woman who is a consistent athlete at the 6:30pm class. Joanne has been setting goals and making progress on her fitness journey and we couldn’t be excited to see her grow. Joanne never backs down from a challenge and since starting CrossFit she has participated in several competitions. She is also a caring and generous member. Joanne and her husband (also a CFR member) have graciously hosted a CFR cookout and always help at any of our events. We love having the DeRosa’s apart of our CFR family and we couldn’t be happier to showcase Joanne this month!

Rx’ing 19.5 and getting my C2B
How did you find CFR?
When my old gym closed, Lauren Chud suggested I give CFR a try. It was the best suggestion/decision I have ever made.
Why do you train?
I train for my mental and physical wellbeing, allowing me to be a better wife, mom, grandma and friend.
What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?
My favorite moment is when someone PR’s a movement and accomplishes their goal. The two that stick out in my mine are when Steve PR’d his clean during the 2018 open and when Tyler PR’d his clean during the last inhouse competition. There is also when you, Megan got your muscle ups. Oh I can go on and on and on.
What is your daily motivation to workout?
To keep up with Steve for sure, haha! Seriously, our CFR community is my daily motivation. I get such joy and pride out of seeing any one of my CFR family getting stronger and accomplishing their goals and PR’s. It is an honor to be a part of their journey.
Favorite and least favorite movements?
HSPU are my all-time favorite, however I love any gymnastic movement. Overhead squat and snatches are my least favorite.
What’s one thing you would tell a new CrossFitter?
CrossFit is a journey, not a race. Everyone has their own unique journey that cannot be compared to another’s. Don’t ever feel intimidated by CrossFit. If you love it and commit to it and to yourself, it will love you back tenfold.
One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?
AC/DC and when Peter plays my favorite pandora station – 80’s rock.
Tell us something about yourself that we don’t already know.
I am an only child; lame answer I know, but that is one tough question.
