Proudest accomplishment at CrossFit Rolesville?
There’s no one thing that I can point to. I’m just happy I can keep up with some of the other members.
How did you find CFR? Why do you train?
Jenny and I would drive by CFR almost daily. One day, she wanted to give CrossFit a try. I joined her on the trial both for support and to make sure the coaching was solid. I was not only very happy with the coaching but really enjoyed the culture Thomas and Megan have created at CFR, so we made the decision to become members.
What is your favorite moment so far at CFR?
It’s difficult to pick a moment as a favorite, but having a chance to be at Friday Night Lights, both as a participant and a spectator was really great. The energy from the CFR community was amazing.
What is your daily motivation to workout?
I’ve been working out in one way or another since I was 11, so it’s become a habit for me.
Favorite and least favorite movements?
I really have trouble with Olympic lifts, so my favorite moments are when every step feels like it was executed properly, regardless of the weight involved.
My least favorite moments are when the clock starts the MetCon countdown and I think “Do I really want to do this?” Then the 3 – 2 – 1 beeps happen and you just have to go.
What’s one thing you would tell a new CrossFitter?
Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. It’s fun to check the board and say, “Oh, what did Brantley get? How’d Bobby do? I can beat that.” It’s a great motivator, but when the workout is over, it comes down to whether or not you performed to the best of your ability that day.
One song that gets you amped up during a WOD?
Something from a movie training montage.

Before we had kids, I was a stand-up comedian and performed in over half the states in the US.
